MARS: Mobilité Agglomération Rémoise

The public service delegation for urban transport for the Reims Agglomeration is managed by MARS (Mobilité Agglomération Rémoise) through a concession contract that was signed with Reims Métropole on 13th July 2006.

This public service delegation includes the design, financing, and construction of the first tramway line; operation of the transport network from 1st January 2008; operation, maintenance and renewal of the ‘bus + tramway’ network for a period of 30 years following the bringing into service of the tram, which is programmed for April 2011.

MARS has entrusted operation of the network to TRANSDEV through an operation-maintenance contract which was signed on 31st July 2006.

The operator

TRANSDEV

Under the ‘TUR’ name, MARS provides public transport services within the Reims agglomeration, for Reims Métropole – the Public Transport Authority for urban transport.

MARS has entrusted the job of operation and maintenance of the urban transport network to ‘TRANSDEV REIMS’ – a subsidiary of the TRANSDEV group.

The Transdev group - itself a subsidiary of the Caisse des Dépôts - is the fourth largest public transportation group in Europe. Present in 9 countries (France, Germany, Australia, Canada, Spain, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands and Portugal), Transdev is responsible for the daily transport of more than 5 million people using tramways, metros, trains, buses, coaches and river shuttles on its urban and inter-urban networks.

Because it is innovative in terms of policy, the group offers sustainable, tailor-made solutions and attractive offers which improve the everyday experiences of passengers throughout the travel chain.

Transdev is both active within and committed to the life of the city, reconciling its growth strategy with a responsible citizenship approach, attention to social concerns and respect for the environment.

Back in 2002, Transdev created its Foundation: ‘A better way of getting there together’. Under the aegis of the Fondation de France, the Foundation supports concrete and operational projects aimed at reducing obstacles to mobility in order to facilitate employment or promote civic values.
