About 19.000 students hold school transport cards. 330 vehicles (245 of which are coaches) cover more than 6 million km a year on about 270 special routes and 49 regular lines (with extra buses running at peak times to increase capacity). This network is completed by the SNCF and the SETAC (urban transport for the CHARLEVILLE-MEZIERES agglomeration). This represents a budget of almost 17 million euros.

The transport card is intended for pupils in nursery, primary and secondary schools who comply with the catchment area, on condition that the distance between home and school, or between home and the closest pick-up point, is at least 3 km.

For students at lycée, free travel is provided on regular lines or existing special routes to the closest lycée or lycée professionnel providing the course chosen.
Boarders are entitled to transport on the basis of one return journey per week.

Ardennes students from outside of the department are also entitled to free transport on regular lines where the course they are taking is not provided within the Ardennes region, on condition that the establishment is the closest one to home (on the basis of a refund of transport costs).

Specific school routes are open to the general public on presentation of a valid ticket, and only if seats are available. For any further information, please contact the relevant transport operator.

Prices

Tickets sold for regular lines are priced by zone. Prices range from 1.50€ to 3€.

In compliance with Law no. 2005-102 of 11th February 2005 for the equality of rights and opportunity, the participation and citizenship of disabled people, the master plan for accessibility of transports to disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility was adopted in December 2008 by the Conseil Général des Ardennes. The planned actions will be implemented by 2015, at the latest.
